- A police officer is a warranted worker of a police force. The responsibilities of a police officer are to maintain public order, prevent and detect crime and apprehend offenders, using force when necessary.
- As well as general policing, officers can be trained in special duties such as counter-terrorism; surveillance; child protection; royalty or diplomatic protection; and investigating major crime such as fraud, rape, murder, and people or drugs trafficking.
