- A gas fitter is a person registered to carry out work on consumers’ gas installations.
- Gasfitters install, maintain and repair piping systems downstream of the billing meter and appliances and ancillary equipment associated with the use of fuel gases, including Liquified Petroleum Gas systems.
- They read drawings and specifications, measure and mark reference points for location of equipment and test piping systems for gas appliances
- They install piping systems for combustible gases, ancillary equipment, appliance flues and gas pressure regulating devices and gas detection systems
- They provide consumer information about the operation and maintenance of appliances and install Liquified Petroleum Gas systems in caravans and marine craft
- They also maintain pipes, appliances, flues and ancillary equipment associated with the use of fuel gases.
