An exciting opportunity exists for a Solution Designer to be part of a major payment system innovation which will result in a substantial upgrade to the Australian payments infrastructure. The focus of this role will be to formulate and guide the technical direction, design & implementation of a payment solution end to end, including application integration.

This role will suit an IT professional with a comprehensive knowledge of & background in solutions design, payments systems & integration architecture. A proven track record in solution design & delivery is essential. Experience in mentoring & consulting team members is also required. Experience in application integration solutions design is highly desirable.

Major Accountabilities;

• Evaluating business problems and collaborate in developing solution designs for the impacted technology areas.
• Produce IT Infrastructure Solution Design documentation for new platforms, existing applications and service.
• Provide input to the planning and estimation of time, cost, resource and quality estimates of the IT solution.
• Providing advice to the business for the effective application of technologies for the payment product.
• Support the test and production incidents through root cause analysis to identify if the production issues were as a result of a design defect.
• Provide analytical support for payment and project dependant IT applications and infrastructure issues where necessary.
• Contribute to the banks strategic design, development and deployment supporting projects/deliverables.
• Mentor technical staff to deliver the solution

Knowledge and Experience;

• At least 7 years experience in solution design.
• Previous experience working on the following payment projects is highly advantageous - Faster Payments, SEPA, MAMBO
• Proven track record in leading design roles including project estimation, design, build, test & implementation.
• Strong understanding of solution design principles and methodologies.
• Prior experience working with payments systems.
• Experience with and understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is preferable.
• Strong understanding of system testing principles and ability to carry out testing tasks.
• Great attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to lead or provide guidance to analyst programmers.
