Importer

• An import is any good or commodity, brought into one country from another country in a legitimate fashion, typically for use in trade.
• Import goods or services are provided to domestic consumers by foreign producers. Import of commercial quantities of goods normally requires involvement of the Customs authorities in both the country of import and the country of export.
• Other tasks may include checking the number of articles or containers in consignments of goods received or despatched, and make sure they are in good condition.
• Arrange distribution of goods.
• Make sure clearance procedures (e.g. payment of any customs entry fees or duties) are carried out, despatch goods and arrange delivery promptly on arrival.
• Undertake clerical work such as filing, accounting, updating customs records, preparing correspondence.
