One of the most well regarded and longest established small Mid-Tier law firms in Melbourne are seeking the talents and expertise of a Senior Family Lawyer to join them on a 12 month maternity leave contract.
This firm have an excellent reputation, so much so that roles with the firm are rarely advertised as most get filled through word of mouth. This 12 month maternity leave role (commencing March) will allow the successful applicant to manage and run the current file load of the Family Law department on their own, with the assistance of an experienced and friendly legal secretary. Given the nature of the role there is no requirement for candidates to hold an established practice or client base.
This firm has an extremely interesting and varied practice, and will see you covering a diverse range of private family law matters including property settlements, domestic partnership disputes, children's matters, binding financial agreements and divorces. Your duties will include client advisory work, drafting documentation, negotiating matters to settlement and both contested and uncontested appearance work in both the Federal Magistrates and Family Courts.
To succeed in this role you will have 6 years or more post admission experience as a Family Lawyer, and will need to have the confidence in your knowledge and abilities to manage the current files on an autonomous basis. You will also have a genuine passion for family law, and the ability to deal with clients with the empathy and sensitivity required for this area of law.
