Key requirements:
- Manage maintain and audit production, development, test and DR RDBMS environments
- Manage, monitor and identify database performance and usage issues for all database systems and design and implement performance tuning to deliver optimal database services
- Manage, design and implement disaster recovery, high availability, database recovery systems and processes
- Assist with the implementation of new or enhanced business products and applications from the database perspective.
- Provide pro-active capacity planning across all databases
- Escalate database related issues to management where appropriate
- Provide design, planning and resource estimates for new works
- Develop and document database architecture
- Manage and design database security
- Develop data warehouse and business intelligence platforms
- Manage implementation and the technical review of database changes, ETL processes, cubes and other database related work against standards, capacity planning, performance\impact analysis, best practice, etc
- Manage data modifications and identify repeatable activities that can be automated
- Develop database utilities and automated reporting
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies
- Liaise with database developers, assisting them in designing logical data structures and naming conventions
- Manage and lead the DBA team
- Ensure that all DBA work is timely, accurate and in accordance with IT standards
- Maintain broad knowledge of current technology and systems
Key requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator qualification highly regarded
- Solid commercial DBA experience
- Experience with SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services
- Database orientation, management and optimisation expertise
- Database design experience
