A Senior Statutory Planner is required on contract at a council located east of Melbourne's CBD. Due to an increase in planning permits over the past 6 months has meant that our client will require a planning expert to hit the ground running and proactively manage a comprehensive portfolio for the next 2 to 3 months. Reporting directly to the Coordinator Statutory Planning, your primary role will involve managing and accessing planning permit applications for development proposals. More specifically, you will be assessing the following: - Dual occupancies
- Multi-unit developments and apartments
- Aged Care Facilities
- Medical Centres
- Service Stations
- Major Advertising Signs
- Liquor Licence
- Car parking dispensation to facilitate different types of use
- Vegetation removal
- Subdivisions
In addition, you will be responsible for: - Preparing planning reports and VCAT submissions.
- Liaise with a range of external stakeholders including developers, builders, government departments and the general public.
- Conducting and managing mediation meetings, where required.
- Mentor less experienced staff.
As the ideal candidate, you will have: - A tertiary qualification in Planning or other relevant area
- A sound knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and more specifically the Victorian legislation.
- Experience managing a number of planning permits applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to provide a high level of customer service
- Excelled computer skills
In return for your services, you will be offered a healthy hourly rate, 35 to 40 hours per week, use of a council car during work hours and the opportunity to work within a very supportive and experienced group of planners.
