Responsabilities / skills: - Design of signalling systems in accordance with the industry, Company & client needs by:
- Preparing detailed Signalling Scheme Plans;
- Designing Signalling Circuits in accordance with current and client signalling practice;
- Preparing Processor Based Interlocking application data reflecting current and client signalling practice;
- Designing Signalling Control Tables;
- Acting as Design Team Leader for nominated projects.
- Verification
- Checking Signalling Circuits and plans prepared by others;
- Checking mechanical layouts and designs, relay based signalling designs, processor based signalling design data and Control Tables.
- Complete accurate and cost effective testing of signalling systems by:
- Testing and commissioning of Mechanical, Relay and Processor Based signalling systems;
- Acting as Tester for Factory Acceptance Testing and/or site testing of systems and equipment;
- Acting as Tester in Charge of signalling projects as nominated;
- Acting as Principles Tester for signalling projects as notimated.
- Staff Development
Mentorship & Development of staff: - Managing the design office employees including line management responsibilities;
- Ensuring the best staff are recruited and trained to meet business needs;
- Acting as a technical mentor for Graduate Engineers and/or IRSE Licensing Scheme;
- Participating in coaching and developing others through activities such as Lunchtime Training Sessions.
- Continuous Improvement
- Proactively supporting the BSC management approach;
- Ensuring a focus on process improvement to reduce costs;
- Fostering, mentoring and rewarding staff for utilising the TMS.
- Occupational Health and Safety
Qualifications: - Electrical & Electronic Engineering qualifications or equivalent technical experience mandatory;
- IRSE Principle Designers license and portfolio
- Postgraduate qualifications in a related field, or equivalent technical experience mandatory;
- Corporate membership of IRSE mandatory.
