- Sports administrators manage sports clubs or associations, undertaking activities such as promoting their sport, obtaining corporate sponsorship and refining the rules and structure of their sport.
- Sports administrators usually work with a voluntary board or committee to develop strategies and programs to achieve the aims and policies of the club or association.
- A sports administrator may talk to clients and conduct research to determine their needs.
- They develop programs and services that meet client needs and consult widely to develop short- and long-term business plans for their sport
- They may supervise the design, planning and maintenance of sport and recreation facilities and make sure facilities conform to fire and other safety standards
- They will plan and organise sporting events, supervise office, facility and/or program staff, and identify staff training needs
- They coordinate the business activities of the sport, or of the club, report to various committees and/or government agencies and prepare, implement and monitor budgets.
