- A sculpture is a three-dimensional object
- Sculpture are viewed as fine arts who conceive and develop a design for sculpture
- They then decide on the material and techniques to be used and select materials of suitable proportions, quality and texture
- Before making the sculpture they may sketch designs or make models of wax or plaster
- They then start productions and carve, model or assemble materials to the desired form using hand or power tools
- Some modern sculpture forms are now practiced outdoors, and often in full view of spectators, thus giving them kinship to performance art in the eyes of some eg. Ice sculpture.
